Chelsea High School Senior Photographer: Downtown Ann Arbor, Featured Location
Sep 12, 2017 | By: Michelle Massey Barnes
When she showed up in my Chelsea studio to plan her senior portrait session, she insisted, "Grunge! I want grunge. No fields, no flowers. No stinking daises. I like abandoned buildings, cool textures, and old backgrounds."
I liked Nina from the moment I met her.
We planned a session in downtown Ann Arbor, and we looked for unique highway overpasses, back allies, and everything with peeling paint.
It was a blast.
We could feel the heat from the late summer sun radiate off the sidewalks and blacktop, but it was cool under the bridge. The wind ruffled her chiffon dress, a dress that was perfect for the graffiti because Nina looked so beautiful that it didn't seem like she belonged there at all. But she owned it. She brought the shoot to life.
This is what I can tell you about Nina. She's not ordinary, and she isn't afraid to do her own thing. A brilliant vocalist and an amazing athlete, Nina is ready to take on the world one smile, spike, row, or melodic line at a time. Never forget, Nina, you can do anything you set your mind to.
Congratulations on your senior year. I hope it is everything you want it to be and so much more.
