When you look in the mirror and look back on your life, what do you wish you could say to your 44 year old self? Now that you are in a different phase of life, what do you wish your 44 year self knew and understood? How have you learned to love yourself along the way?
I am looking for 44 women that want to be photographed and want to share their reflections as part of photography project celebrating the wisdom and the experiences of women over 44.
THIS IS MY STORY:
I am turning 44 today, September 19, 2019. As I begin my 44th year and reflect on who I have become, I find that there is a space inside of me that longs for a deeper artistic expression. I believe my work can make a stronger impact.
The last 14 years of my life have been devoted to my three children. I have this incredible opportunity to teach my children to believe in themselves by simply believing in myself. I have been dreaming of a photography project like this for many years. It is time to begin.
I am excited about this project because I am shaped by the people I photograph. I learn from you as I work with you. You teach me how to be present, and how to trust that the moment will unfold. You teach me to lean in and ask for more from myself and from my craft. You push me to capture in new and more compelling ways. I know I will grow as I photograph you.
I hope that you grow as well, because when you allow me to see you, I really SEE you, and you are beautiful. This is the project I want to pour my heart into because I know I can frame your beauty so that you can see it and so others can see it too.
WHAT IS YOUR STORY?
I want to photograph 44 women over the age of 44 who want to share part of their journey with other women. In addition to being photographed, I also want you to hand write a 1 page letter to your 44 year old self. What would you like her to know? It sharing this message with yourself, you will also be sharing it with women of all ages.
When this project is complete, I will have a showing at the studio and pair the portraits and the letters together.
WHY I AM DOING THIS PROJECT:
I know the words of wisdom you write to yourself will also speak to me, and I know our work will speak to many other women following in our footsteps. My hope is that this project will weave generations of together as we share how we have learned to love ourselves more.
HOW IT WORKS:
Your session in complimentary and you will receive 1 portrait of your choice as a thank you for participating. You must be willing to sign an image release form granting MMB Imagery permission to use your images and your letter publicly and online.
